Each year at the Central Representative Assembly, Central presents awards to individuals, teams and locals.

We encourage you to nominate those individuals, teams and locals under the following categories. The deadline to do so is February 20th, 2019.

Grassroots Activist Award
The Outstanding Local Grassroots Activist Award recognizes the contributions of individuals who have demonstrated exemplary service to the Association and fellow members at the building or site level. In order to receive the award, an individual must be nominated by the Local Association President. This award is open to any local representative not serving as an elected officer and who is not a Central or OEA committee member.

LEAD Award
The Leading Effective Association Development (LEAD) Award recognizes the contributions of local associations who have demonstrated effective development of their Association and fellow members. In order to receive the award, an association must be nominated by a Labor Relations Consultant, or Central OEA/NEA Area Representative by completing this form and returning it to the Awards Committee.

Outstanding Education Advocate Award
The Outstanding Education Advocate Award recognizes the contributions of individuals and groups who have demonstrated exemplary advocacy for public education. In order to receive the award, an individual or a group can be nominated by a local leader, Central ACE, or Central Executive Board member through the online nomination process on Central’s Web site. This award is open to any Central member. Strong consideration would be given to award nominees who have participated in the following: lobbying efforts, educational fundraisers, levy & bond issues, local board races, pro-public educations group activities, and organizing activities (not an exclusive list).

Central OEA/NEA is pleased to announce the candidacy of Adrienne M. Bowden for OEA Vice President. The election will be held during the OEA Spring Representative Assembly in May 2019. Adrienne has served as an OEA Board of Directors, as past OEA District Leader’s Chair, and currently serves as Central’s President and NEA Director. Adrienne has been active on many national, state, district and local committees.
